What do I need to know before buying an ice machine?
Nearly all Ice machine Model numbers and capacities are based on Maximum ice production, 15 Deg Air and 10 deg water. As these temps rise the production will go down significantly.

All ice machines in our Iceboy range are based on Minimum ice production, IE: Ice boy 100 will produce a minimum 100kg / 24hrs @ 40 deg air and 35 deg water. The unit will always produce a Minimum 100kg but with lower temps the output will be significantly more, up to double the rated capacity.

You should buy a machine with more capacity then you need. This has 3 benefits:

  1. the machine meets capacity and will turn off and so does not work 24hrs a day, extending its life span significantly.
  2. The unit will use less power as it will be off more often.
  3. You will always have enough ice for any situation.

For calculations: Ice weight per cubic meter
Cube = 480kg
Flake = 580

For calculations: Measure ice production
This is handy to use to work out if your machine is operating at its full potential or whether there may be a problem.

Find how long your ice machine takes per cycle, = from Ice drop to Ice drop, measure to weight of the ice drop. Divide 60 minutes by the Ice drop time, then times that number by the weight, then times by 24 ( hrs) = production weight kg in 24hrs

Example: 60 mins / 15 min (per ice drop) = 4.
4 X ice weight 4.7 = 18.8 kg
18.8 kg X 24hrs = 451.2 kg per 24hrs.
